utilization of electrochemical method (ec) for pulp and paper mill industry's effluent treatment

چکیده

growing the water consuming and shortage of available fresh water resources, make “effluent reuse” an unavoidable issue in industry for supplying a part of needs for required water. on the other hand, increment in the production of paper products from wood and recycling their consumed products which release pollutants to the environment has increased the environmental concerns. thus, in present study pulp and paper mill effluent (case study: digestion pool unit of a tissue paper mill, located in hashtgerd, karaj, iran) was examined and treated by electrochemical method. in electrochemical method, the effect of various parameters such as chemical oxygen demand (cod), total dissolved solids (tds), total suspended solids (tss), and conductivity was investigated. results revealed that in 30 minutes, cod value decreased from 985 mg/l to 240 mg/l in 500 ml of effluent.
